Our Entrepreneurs: Faith Adjarhore

Published on June 30, 2025

Meet #OurEntrepreneurs. Today we welcome Faith Adjarhore, a Student Nurse from East London who has joined our Dementia Innovators Programme as part of year nine of the programme.

Hi, my name is Faith, and I’m a third-year adult nursing student at the University of Hertfordshire. I’ve worked as a co-researcher at my university and developed a well-being app with professionals for students in practice.

My innovation, the DDI-Dementia Dialogue Initiative, aims to ease the diagnosis of dementia in BAME patients. I want the DDI to improve BAME patients’ education and attitudes towards dementia. You may be wondering how; the DDI will serve as an app for families and patients to start their journey in a safe space from their homes, logging things they notice about their loved ones and having access to online doctors to share their concerns before that first physical interaction with a healthcare professional. To pilot this innovation, I plan to partner with faith communities and dementia specialists to create workshops in trusts with a growing population of BAME patients.

Around 3 percent of people with dementia are from BAME communities, equating to 25,000 people. The Alzheimer’s Society says this will double by 2026. BAME communities struggle to access services due to several factors such as stigma, cultural differences, and language barriers.

I had a module in university called ‘Imagination and Innovation in Nursing Practice,’ where I made up the DDI to be fictional. But then I realised this could be an innovation that could positively impact people’s lives. I’m really excited to meet like-minded individuals and to bring my innovation to life. For the next year, I hope that the DDI has a prototype or has completed several workshops in several trusts with a great social media presence.

Healthcare is ever-changing, just like people. It must be adaptable and fluid. Healthcare should mirror our society; therefore, it needs to change to support patients in the best way.

We are pleased to welcome Faith as part of our new Dementia Innovators Programme, which is a collaboration with the Alzheimer’s Society. Read more about the collaboration here.
